CERVO BOUTIQUE HOTEL, PORTO CERVO
Location : Porto Cervo, Sardinia
Client : Smeralda Holding
Scope : Interior Design
Description : Restaurant, Bar
Founded by Karim Aga Khan and designed by Italian architect Luigi Vietti in the 1960’s, Porto Cervo has since then been the epitome of luxury vacations in Sardinia, where people would come to feel the positive vibes of the place all day long.
It’s around that time, in 1975, that the Cervo Tennis Club was created right in the heart of the small town turned into a legendary and trendsetting place. No need to say that the club was promptly adopted by a crowd just as fond of dolce vita as of sports and enthralling competitions. The Cervo Tennis Club as such became an instant hit, a new socialites and celebrities’ hub, gathering all the trendsetters and fashionable personalities of the time.
To be consistent with the island DNA, Atelier POD approached the hotel design by following 4 methods and principles to rethink the various hotel spaces: using a mix of materials and contrasting shapes, applying organic lines with a modern touch to emphasize sensuality, recalling nature using engraving, trimming and subtracting, and finally introducing sophistication and refinement into natural materials.
