Considering the richness of its natural heritage, the Nakdong River is a protected area; the idea of establishing an eco-museum along this river emerged naturally.

The Busan Municipality, in collaboration with UNESCO, organized an international competition inviting several architects, among them Lotfi Sidi Rahal.
